Reflection
This week in my PR Publications class, we were asked to focus on Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Typesetting. In order to learn more about each of these, our class was provided with an array of videos to watch throughout the week to help us further our knowledge in each of these areas. I for one have used Photoshop in the past, but after watching all of the tutorial videos we were provided with, I realized that I had forgotten most everything I knew when it came to Photoshop. I was also not familiar with InDesign or Typesetting, so this week was definitely a week of learning for me.
When I first saw all of the videos that we were supposed to watch to help us get familiar with these programs, I panicked and became a bit overwhelmed that I wasn’t going to be able to take in so much information in such a short amount of time. I then realized that breaking up watching these videos worked better for me than sitting down and watching every video at once.
Since I am not super familiar with any of these programs, I was able to learn something new through watching each video. Watching these step-by-step tutorials made me feel less overwhelmed, but I still knew that I had a lot to do this week. This week was definitely a learning process and lived up to its name of a “boot camp.” I feel that I definitely have a long way to go, but I feel that I was able to get a grasp on how to use these programs and hopefully one day I will be able to do more in-depth assignments and work using these programs.
I think that I originally reacted to this week’s assignments in a panicked way because this was something that was completely new to me, and I knew that there was a lot that I was going to have to learn. I think I am now starting to get the hang of these programs and I’m ready to continue learning!
