Reflection
This week was our Photoshop and InDesign boot camp. The assignment was to follow Lynda.com tutorials to learn how to use the software by following the videos while doing exercises. It was supposed to take about 90 minutes per software but I think I spent double that time trying to figure it all out. The videos move pretty quickly and I had to constantly pause them to keep up. Plus, I’m still trying to work out what all of the ridiculous amount of buttons mean, so it happened pretty often that I would click on something I wasn’t supposed to on accident, then some menu would disappear and I wouldn’t know how to get that menu back.
Overall, these assignments were a pretty frustrating task. I had to give up and come back to an exercise multiple times before finishing because I would just end up lost. It’s a lot to take in in one week. I expect that I’ll have to look back on these tutorials multiple times before I actually get the hang of how to use Photoshop and InDesign. I know that these creative tools will be very helpful for me a public relations student, so I am looking forward to getting to know them better and being able to use them without frustration.
