Reflection
*drum roll please*
Here is the very first draft of my business card/letterhead!
For this assignment, we had to pick an organization that we were interested in, locate their logo, analyze our organization, analyze competitors, build a communication strategy and begin our business card/ letterhead design. And the images you see above are the result!
I initially was excited about this assignment because I am very passionate about Mary’s Meals, therefore I thought this would be a breeze. An organization I love and creating something awesome for it, how fun? I will admit, I was unsure why there were so many requirement prior to the actual fun part (playing in In Design), but after I began to create my images I realized how beneficial they were. I knew exactly which direction I was heading and felt confident about the image decisions I chose.
My reaction to what I actually did was one of mixed feelings. I thought the assignment was going to be a lot easier than it actually ended up being for me. I was very frustrated with In Design at times and I couldn’t match the certain blue in the logo to the blue color I wanted for my font (I think I got it, somewhat!). Right now I’m about 30% proud of myself, 20% satisfied and 50% not sure if my business card is good at all. I think my first draft isn’t exactly what I envisioned it to be, and I wanted to add a few more elements but then I started to think it would become to busy because the image on the background is so powerful. And I’m still not sure how I feel about the placement of the logo and text and even the font in general… basically, I know I have quite a bit of work to go on this before I’m 100% satisfied! I am happy with the way this is going and I’m really looking forward to becoming more familiar with In Design and learning how to completely customize the business card.
Overall, this was a great experience and I am extremely thankful we have the opportunity to turn in a draft before the final product is due, because I know I definitely needed that (:
