Reflection

For this week in PR publications, we were asked to put the last touches on our business card and letterhead. With this task, I responded by going through my work and just looking at it at the surface level. I tried to decide if my designs were pleasing to the eye or not. I also tried to put myself in the shoes of the consumer and decide whether or not this business card and letterhead were worth my attention.

I decided that, given my low-level of expertise, that my designs weren’t half bad. I tried not to get in over my head and do something too complicated, and I think I succeeded in that. I stuck with simple designs that I knew I could handle. As well, when I came across a problem design concepts that I thought looked a little “iffy”, I decided to just nix them for the sake of my final product. I think my reaction was like that because I took on this challenge knowing I would play it safe. For this first assignment, I didn’t want to take too many risks in case they didn’t work out, and I believe that I succeeded in that.

After this assignment, I’m definitely becoming more confident in my InDesign skills. I actually know what I’m looking for when I need one of the tools, and I know how to perform certain effects on photos, which is not something that I ever really thought I would do, because I’m not a very visually creative person. However, I’m definitely proud of my execution of work thus far.

Below are links to my final works.
