Direct-Mailer-Back-1.2-300x214.jpg

Reflection

For this assignment, I decided that my first direct mailer would be directed at prospective undergraduate students. This was an easy choice for my direct mailer because it is the main audience that OU recruitment services wishes to target. This helped when defining my second stake holder, because it allowed me to then look at the next level of education which is a graduate degree.

For my first draft I went with a social media theme. Social media is a huge trend among incoming students, so I went onto OU’s Twitter page and found real tweets from real Sooners.Reflection My concept for this set
of direct mailers would feature several different students from all different races and genders. They would then be sent out at random, to show how diverse OU’s population is.
I chose this concept because I thought it would be appealing and entertaining to this group of stakeholders.

My next set of direct mailers were targeted toward students wanting to enroll in a graduate program. For this one I choose a more professional concept. I chose to focus on the end-game of most students, a degree. Therefore I used the master’s diploma and left blanks for thReflectioneReflection name and the masters degree, so that the student is free to define their own future. I think this concept is appealing to future graduate students because it is a constant remind of what they are working toward

There were many differences between photoshop and indesign, but the biggest one I noticed was the ability to create layouts. When working in Photoshop, I often had to use rectangle boxes to create a layout. Overall indesign is better for newsletters and photoshop is good for Direct mailers. I enjoyed brushing up on my Photoshop skills during this assignment.
