Reflection
In my PR Publications class, we were asked to work on two direct mailers for two identified stakeholders for the past couple of weeks. I have to admit, I wasn’t super impressed with my first couple drafts for both stakeholders. I know that I had a lot to change, but I am happy we had time to work on it and realize what we did wrong!
In response to what we were asked to do, I thought about my love-hate relationship with Photoshop. Overall, I was comfortable working with Photoshop from last semester in my Advertising Copy & Layout class, however, I grew to like InDesign a lot more! I found InDesign to be a lot more user-friendly, and I really enjoy working in this software. So for this project, I was comfortable working with Photoshop, but there was always the thought in the back of my head that I wished I was doing the project in InDesign instead! Although I like InDesign more, I think it’s good that we are working in both Adobe platforms interchangeably so we can gain experience with each software.
After finishing my two direct mailers, I was pretty impressed with myself! I changed a lot, but I made the two mailers more readable and more like a direct mailer. I added a space for an address and a stamp, as well as information regarding questions the students or the parents may have about attending OU. I think that my final project looks way better than my drafts!
I think I had this reaction because I worked a lot harder on my final project, and I had time to think about how I wanted to present my direct mailer. I gave both mailers the same theme and put more information on them, which I thought were equally important.
Overall, I enjoyed working on this project and touching up my Photoshop skills!
