Reflection
This week in my PR Publications class we were asked to pick an organization of our choice and design some social media posts and cover photos for the organization’s website.
The organization I chose was Disney World, and the event I’m promoting is “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.” This event takes place from mid-November and ends at the end December.
Overall, I really enjoyed using Canva this week! This design platform was user-friendly, and I could easily navigate my way through it. I’m glad I did all of the tutorials because these helped me with my social media posts.
However, I did have some trouble after I downloaded the photo sometimes. After I would download the photo, the text would change and not be lined up how I wanted it to be! This project probably took me longer than most people because I had to go back and change the font so many times.
I also found that on the cover photos, I had more space to work with and could easily put my promotional message in the left corner. However, on the social media posts, I had less space and less space for the message. This forced me to put the message in the middle of the photo, which made the message harder to read. I then figured out that I could place black text behind the white text, and make the photo a little transparent. I think this definitely helped with the readability! But in general, I liked using Canva and will definitely use it outside of class!
