Reflection Piece

This week I was asked by Professor Croom to create a newsletter. This newsletter was to have certain elements that were laid out in our instruction and the newsletter was to be for a Fortune 500 company.

I was excited to start the project. I chose Walmart because my stepfather is a Divisional Talent Manager for Walmart, so he essentially oversees all the talent for the Neighborhood Walmart’s in the country. I thought that there would be no better Fortune 500 company to choose than the NUMBER ONE Fortune 500 company and the company that has financially supported my family for nearly a decade. In addition, I was looking forward to working with InDesign again! For the Canva and the Direct Mailer projects I did not feel like I did my best and so I knew for a project this large I would need to start early.

At first, when I did the rough draft. It was exactly that, rough. I felt like there was a mental block. It all looked like a newspaper and I didn’t know how to get out of the creative roadblock. SO I started slow, and played with the first page and kept it simple. I tried with each page to try to add something new or different. I think I felt like I had creative road block because I was looking at newspapers for good help and magazines and it just was not what I was looking for. Finally, I looked at some fellow students designs and really enjoyed how they played with spacing and color and I wanted to do that.

Here are my designs below. Enjoy!
