Reflection
Plans For The Future!
For the past couple of years, my professors always stressed the importance of starting a blog to show potential employers and to improve my writing skills. Until the PR Pubs class, I had that thought in my mind but I could never start to develop it. For the most part, I didn’t know where to begin. For sometime, I thought it would be great to start a personal blog about myself and tie it to social issues that are newsworthy. After taking PR Pubs and experiencing what is like to write a blog, I plan to continue on with my domain. I will eventually pay for my domain so I can have just my name as my web address and it can be more presentable to employers.
I plan to wipe out the blogging content from my domain. Now that I’ve had more experience, I plan to make this space a much more career focused. The working idea I have for my domain is to create a space where my portfolio will be available and where potential employers will learn more about me. I want to incorporate my knowledge of social issues and tie them to the strategic communications world. I plan to create a calendar for blogging where I will give my input on PR current events being reported through PR Week or other respectable magazines of the industry.
This semester, I learned that a blog is a great tool to let employers know what my interests are and to see the real person behind the paper resume. I want to develop my “About” page better and create a new page with my contact information.
All of these changes will also come with the responsibility from my part to be much more aware of ways to make my space better and make it have my personality much more than it has now. I still need to make it much more appealing in many ways. After all, there is always time from improvement. The more I know about the tools I have, the more I want to properly use my domain to its full potential.
