Reflection
Diving in to photoshop and indesign for pretty much the first time, at least on my own, was actually kind of scary. Just looking at all of the tools and having no idea how use them or create even the most basic of things can make it hard to even start what I was asked to do. That turned out to be the hardest part, starting.
I would sit staring at my laptop, video playing, photoshop open, poised to begin for five minutes and then close it and decide to work on other homework and try again later. I did this a few times before I finally sucked it up and began, and once I did it became a lot easier than I thought it would be.
When I began the typesetting assignment I have to admit I lost a little confidence in myself, but again once I began it became easier. I think my reacted this was because when you don’t really know what you’re doing, or how to make things look the way you want, a task can seem rather daunting.
I am a perfectionist so having to cope with the fact that my first few assignments would probably not live up to the expectation I had built up in my head is hard. But once I got over myself, and my own fears and expectations, the assignment actually got me excited for the rest of the class, and I look forward to the other things we will create.
