Reflection
This week we were asked to under take a design bootcamp. We were assigned over two hours of tutorial videos to begin understanding Photoshop and InDesign. My initial thought was “Holy Cow! Two hours of videos. There is no way I’m going to watch all of those,” but as I began watching them and following along I was eager to learn more about these programs. I really liked the tutorial videos and thought they were really easy to follow along and duplicate what was going on. Going through bootcamp was not as hard and scary as I thought it would be. After bootcamp we were asked to analyze and annotate a newspaper which was the easiest part of the whole week. Our final assignment was to duplicate a newsletter with the correct font type and sizes on InDesign. I was really worried about this assignment but once I buckled down it was rather easy just really tedious.
Once I download my finished product into a PDF I was shocked. My final work didn’t look half bad. I was expecting things to be totally out of place and definitely not what it was supposed to be. I was rather proud of myself when I was duplicating the newsletter because I didn’t have to look back at the tutorial videos at all for help, which was shocking. i think I felt this way because I have seen other people’s work on these programs and I thought there was no way I could create these images. I’ve worked with Photoshop before and had a really hard time so I had no faith in my skills. But after this assignment for a beginner, I’m feeling pretty good about myself.
