Reflection

This week we really got to test our skills with InDesign. We were asked to pick an organization, research their logos, competitors and build a communication strategy and begin creating a business card. The photos below are my super rough draft of the business cards. I am not really happy with the finish product but I just have to keep reminding myself this is just the first draft, and for just learning how to use InDesign it’s pretty good.

I really enjoyed this assignment because it really challenged us to think outside the box. A lot of times we are doing assignments that just go through the motions but this one required us to put our creative thinking caps on. I liked our teacher had us use Pinterest as a way to kind of gather all our thoughts and ideas into one place. When I first looked at all we had to do, I thought “wow” that’s a lot of blog posts but as I began the assignment I think it is necessary for that many post to keep all my thoughts organized and coherent.

My reaction to what I did, was like I said earlier, I wasn’t too happy with what I created. I tend to be a very indecisive person so that always becomes an issue for me when I design things. I just have to many ideas in my head. I am also such a perfectionist that I don’t think I’ll be happy with what I have until I think it is perfect. As a first draft of a business card its not half bad but I still want to keep developing my ideas. I am however excited to see where this business card ends up and getting more familiar with InDesign.
