Reflection
This week in my public relations publications course we were asked to finish our business card and letterhead for our company of choice. While polishing the final product we were asked to reflect on the whole process of our first design project.
Finishing these was tough because at what point do you now you’re done when you have never done this before? Everyone’s looked so different in the class that I couldn’t really grasp what a finished product was. You don’t want to do too much to a business card or letterhead or too little. What is just the right amount? And does that look good? Will that print well? Will it grab attention? I think I was less pleased with my letterhead than business card. I wanted something that stood out. Topgolf uses a lot of gray on their website so I wanted to use gray, black and white contrasting. I used their logo and their slogan to represent them. I think I wasn’t completely happy with it because my skills in InDesign are still in the beginner stages so I wasn’t able to do what I envisioned no matter how many YouTube videos I searched.
I’m kinda a perfectionist when is comes to design and my teacher told us first day to not be a perfectionist. So. I’m struggling a bit. I also hate not being super good at InDesign because that means I’m not in control.
My skills are getting stronger but I do not believe these items are ready to be shown to the client. I think they have potential and I would LOVE to work for Topgolf but I would need to work more before pitching them to Topgolf.
