Reflection

The past two weeks in PR Pubs we have been working on 2 different Direct Mailers. For this specific assignment we had to use Photoshop as opposed to the last assignment where we used InDesign.

Let me tell yah. I enjoy InDesign a lot better. I just seem to understand it more. I get the differences and why each can be used for different objectives you’re trying to achieve but Photoshop just gets on my nerves. Therefore this assignment, for me, was a bit more challenging than the last.

Both my stakeholders were picked from my personal experience with OU. I was out-of-state Dallas, Texas girl who grew up a UT fan (ew) so I wanted my first Direct Mailer to appeal to that audience. I was also a girl who was interested in sorority life so my second Direct Mailer was directed towards that audience. Having a connection to both mailers made  that part of the assignment easy but the actual Photoshop part was.. interesting. I hate the layers. I get them. I know why they are there but my brain can’t seem to grasp how they work. Photoshop is like very temperamental and it makes me angry. There are so many clicks!! And the locking and unlocking layers and cutting out things etc. I like layout and perfect lines and organization that InDesign has.

I still have some work to do before we turn them in officially next week but I am mostly happy with how they are at this point?.. I still go back to what my professor said at the beginning of the semester, “If you’re a perfectionist you need to let that go.” I haven’t let it go.

ROUGH DRAFTS
