Reflection

This week we were asked to produce our finished product of the direct mailers. We spent about three weeks working on these. First defining our stakeholders, then actually creating the front and the back of the mailers.

At this point in the PR pubs course, I’m gotten used to what we are asked to do. Nothing is really ever that hard and we get to explore the creative side of our brain. Which I think is nice to exercise instead of always having to solve equations or edit papers.

I was really excited about the way my direct mailers turned out. The second one, I really liked because the picture on the front is a picture I took from the stadium my freshman year. I’m not quite sure the if I did the back of my mailers correct, but I just went with the flow and followed some examples I found online.

I think  I was more excited about this week because I feel like I produce something that I am proud of. The more I design things though the more I realize that it might be something I am not that passionate about. I am a very indecisive person and find it really hard to make artistic decisions. Often I have a lot of ideas going on in my head and I have a difficult time picking one and sticking to it.

Like I have said every week, I feel like I am gaining more confidence with designing. But every now and then I have to go back and double check things on the videos. In my personal opinion I feel like InDesign is much easier to work with. I find myself getting really frustrated when I use PhotoShop. But maybe its because I feel like I know the tools better in InDesign than Photoshop. If I were to start over I think I would do a little more research of what exact components the direct mailer needs. But overall, I’d say this week was a pretty successful week.
