Reflection

This week in my Public Relations Publications class, we were asked to continue working on our business card draft that we had began last week, as well as begin a draft of a letterhead to go along with our business card. Along with this, we were asked to comment on a member of our learning circle’s blog post, giving them feedback on their business card and asking any questions that came to mind. Finally, we were asked to give feedback to each member in our learning circle on the progress of their business card. We were asked to comment on different aspects of each member’s business card, such as the alignment, typography, and contrast.

When first reviewing what was on the schedule this week to get accomplished, I was pleased with the course load. I knew that I wouldn’t have any issues completing each of these tasks in a timely manner. I began my lesson this week by commenting on a member’s blog post and then giving feedback to each member in my learning circle. I then moved on to creating a letterhead that matched my business card, which I was excited to do, knowing that I need all of the practice that I can get when it comes to learning the ropes of InDesign.

I felt that I was able to create this letterhead quicker than I created my business card. I think this was the case because I was able to use the different tools that I used when creating my business card to make my letterhead. I am definitely beginning to learn how to navigate through InDesign based on all of the practice in the past few weeks. I was satisfied with how my first draft came together and will continue to work on perfecting my letterhead in the upcoming week.

I think that I was able to remain calm throughout this week’s lesson because of the fact that I am now beginning to learn how to use InDesign and all of the tools that go along with it. I was able to space out each assignment, which caused me not to stress out about getting everything completed in time. I think that the term “practice makes perfect” is definitely something that can be used for this class and our use of InDesign.
