Reflection

I have successfully completed my first project for my Public Relations Publications class (YAY)! After researching the athletic brand, Lululemon and learning more about the brand, I was able to get started with the process of creating a business card for Lululemon.

I submitted my first draft of my business card a few weeks ago and got a lot of great feedback from my fellow classmates. Based on the feedback that I received, I was able to make the improvements needed for the second round of drafts last week. Along with submitting the second draft of my business card last week, I was also asked to begin creating a letterhead for Lululemon to go along with my business card. After submitting the first draft of my letterhead and second draft of my business card, I received more feedback this past week from my professor. This feedback helped me make the final changes to my business card and letterhead before submitting it. I ended up changing some of the formatting on my business card for the final submission, which I believe made the business card look better than before! I had a few things to tweak on my letterhead before it was all set to be submitted along with my businesscard. We were also asked to create a video pitching our final design and focusing on two specific questions:

  • How did your research affect your design process?
  • How have different design principles affected your design (contrast, repetition, proximity, and alignment)?

I definitely appreciated all of the feedback that I received from both my fellow students and my professor. They all gave me great ideas of how I could adjust certain aspects of both my letterhead and business card to make it the best it can be.

I was able to finalize both my business card and my letterhead in a calm and productive way. I knew the deadline ahead of time for this project, which made it easy for me to pace myself this past week when finalizing my project. When it came to recording my pitch, I was definitely nervous to record just me talking to the camera (please excuse all awkwardness). I was able to answer both questions in my recording and successfully loaded it onto YouTube (something I have never done before).

I believe that I was able to react to what I was assigned to do this week in a calm way because I am now starting to get the hang of this class (or at least I hope that I am) and the due dates and time commitment that goes along with this class. I feel that after completing this project, I have now started to get the hang of InDesign and all of the tools that go along with using it.
