Reflection

As the third week of my PR publications course approached, we began learning the basics of Photoshop and InDesign. Having minimal experience with these Adobe tools, I was both excited and nervous.

Our professor began by assigning a series of tutorial videos to familiarize us with the functions of Photoshop and InDesign. After going through the videos, I looked at the assignment and to be honest, was very overwhelmed. I completed the “Newspaper Markup” with ease, however, when it came to the “Typesetting Assignment,” I decided to attend Professor Croom’s office hours. This assignment required us to recreate the front page of a newsletter. I was frustrated when my newsletter didn’t turn out the exact same as the original.

Like our professor reminded us, when learning the basics, it is important not to be a perfectionist. The goal of this week was to gain a broad understanding of Photoshop and InDesign, which I feel was accomplished. I look forward to improving my skills with these applications in the future!
