Direct-Mailer-1-Front-1024x731.jpg

Reflection

I have successfully (well hopefully) completed my second project for my PR Publications class! For this project, we were asked to create two direct mailers for OU Recruitment Services. I identified two stakeholders that Recruitment Services could send direct mailers to and it was encouraged that the two stakeholders be related. I chose my first stakeholder to be prospective students who have been accepted to OU, but have not yet committed. Another goal for my stakeholder was for the prospective student to have been involved in high school and is interested in continuing to be involved in college. My second stakeholder was for parents of the prospective students who have been accepted to OU. These parents have received a college degree, but it was most likely not from OU. After defining both of my stakeholders, I put my Photoshop knowledge to the test and began creating my direct mailers.

I believe that I was able to respond to this project well, due to the fact that we had previously been provided with Photoshop tutorials at the beginning of the semester. I struggled at times when it came to figuring out minor details of Photoshop since it has been a few years since I last used this program, but overall, I think that I was able to navigate my way through Photoshop successfully.

I went into this project being a little nervous since we had only been using InDesign in this class up to this point, so I knew that I had some learning to do when it came to this project. It took some practice, but I was proud of my final product that I had created and am looking forward to continuing learning more about Photoshop in the future.

I think that I was able to respond to this project in the way that I did because I knew that if I was struggling, I had many resources to fall back on that could help me navigate through Photoshop and be successful with this project. There were times throughout this project when I had difficulties and had to go back and watch tutorial videos from Lynda.com, which helped me a lot during this process.

While I still have more to learn when it comes to Photoshop, I am happy with the work I did using Photoshop for this project.
