Reflection
This week in my Public Relations Publications class, we were asked to choose an organization or company of our choice and design four social media pieces using the design website, Canva. I chose Syrup, a local breakfast boutique in Norman, Oklahoma as my organization. I wanted to design my social media pieces for an event Syrup would be having where they will be open during the evening on Thursday, May 1st as a study spot for students to study for finals. In order to get started with this project, we were first asked to create an account on Canva and complete five different tutorials before beginning the design of my pieces for social media.
I was very excited to begin this project, seeing as I had never previously used or heard of Canva before. I felt that the work this week was doable, and I was able to complete everything in a timely manner in order to get everything done in time. I wanted to allow plenty of time for me to learn the ropes of Canva before starting my project so that I would be fully equipped and prepared when it came to navigating through the website and design options.
Without the tutorials that we were required to partake in prior to beginning our project, I definitely would not have been as prepared as I was after completing them. I felt that after I completed the tutorials, I was able to successfully complete this project, so I was definitely thankful for the tutorials since I was new to Canva. I was definitely able to complete this project in a calm and efficient manner, and did not feel stressed during the process of this project.
I think that my reaction to this project was what is was because of all of the resources that I was given prior to beginning this project which ensured that I would succeed in this project.
While I did enjoy using Canva, it did take me a few tries to get the full hang out it. I originally began using images from Canva, but then realized that the photos used from Canva would have the Canva watermark on the image, which I found distracting. I then chose to find photos outside of Canva to use to avoid the watermark showing up on my pieces. I felt that Canva had everything else that I needed to complete this project once I found pictures to use outside of Canva.
