Reflection – Direct Mailer and Segmenting Stakeholder Matrix
In my PR pubs class this past week, we were asked to make a direct mailer and do a Segmenting Stakeholder Matrix. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.
I believe that I responded very well to the segmenting stakeholder matrix, but due to the snow day I wasn’t able to finish the drafts of the direct mailer. The SSM was kind of difficult to do, because it took me putting myself into the shoes of the stakeholder. I had to think about many different areas that would affect a north Texas high school student between the ages of 17 to 18. All in all, I believe that I responded well to the challenge and it got me thinking about how to reach this people group for OU.
I am very happy with the SSM that I put together and I am excited to create the direct mailer to send to that particular group of people. It was definitely a little challenging to create the SSM, but it has made it a lot easier to plan my strategy for the direct mailer.
I believe the reason that I am pleased with my SSM is because it took a good amount of time to create and it made me think critically about the specific stakeholder. I had to envision every part of their lives and it made me feel more prepared to create the direct mailer. I really enjoyed this assignment and I believe that I will use this practice for the rest of my career.
