Reflection – Direct Mailer
In my PR pubs class, we are currently working on direct mailers for two different types of stakeholders. This week we worked on the second stakeholder graphic. The second stakeholder that I chose was the parents of North Texas high school students who are alumni of OU. I chose to use a group of kids that would remind the second stakeholder of their time at OU.
The first stakeholder was the high school student and now the second stakeholder is their parent. One of the parents attended OU, so the idea of going to OU is not such an abstract idea for these students. This idea of reaching out to the generation after OU grads is a great idea, because it has the potential to bring in a new undergraduate student as well as plug the alumni back into the school.
Last week, I was unable to complete the draft due to the snow days. However, I believe that both of my graphics portray a sense of community and highlight some of the benefits of OU’s campus. The first graphic shows the Seedsower, which symbolizes the idea of sowing knowledge and experiences. The second graphics shows students, which symbolizes family and community. The second graphic is meant to remind the parents of their time at OU.
There are a few similarities and differences between Photoshop and InDesign. The similarities are that they are both pretty easy to use and that the ability to edit from within is also simple. The differences between them is that Photoshop is better with filters and single-page small graphics. InDesign is better with longer subject matter and it is not the best for individual graphics.
Lastly, this has been a great assignment. I am excited to continue to make graphics and I am learning so much about Photoshop and InDesign.
