Reflection – Lesson 14
This semester in my PR pubs class has definitely been a learning process. I began this semester with nearly no idea on how to use Photoshop and no idea on how to use InDesign. My work has matured as well as my talents in these design softwares. However, I would like to discuss my plans for this blog after this class.
My goal is to keep writing on this blog after this class. This summer I will be working for Edelman in NYC and I would love to blog weekly about my experiences at the company and my experiences in NYC. I think it would be a good way to track my learning at Edelman as well as share my experiences with family, friends and potential employers.
I believe that blogging for my other courses and for my internship this summer will be a good thing. It is said that skills that are not practiced or utilized quickly become rusty, so I want to keep practicing. I want my writing to improve and I think that blogging about my summer internship is a great place to start.
I’m not sure if I want to wipe it clean and redesign it, but I will consider it. I would like to change the layout a little, but we will see. I think that I have the ability to create a better looking space with a more user-friendly interface. I think that I will probably change it after school is over and before my internship.
I don’t think that I will use a different space. This domain is currently free to me and it has a good amount of work on it for people to see. I think future employers have an easy place to come see some of the design that I have already done. Also, they can get a feel for my style of writing and decide if it fits with the voice and style of their company.
I have already filled out the “About” page, but I think a “Contact” page would be a good idea, so that people could email me directly. I think I would keep my phone number and other personal information off of my page, but an email is a good start.
This has been such a great semester. I am truly grateful for all that I have learned and I am excited to use my skills in the future. I will take what I learned in this class and apply it to other courses. Once again, I am so happy that I took this course and i cannot wait to use my skills in other courses and my internship.
