Reflection: Newsletter

And just like that another project is done. This whole semester has flown by so fast and I can’t believe we are already this far. Over the last two weeks we were asked to pick a Fortune 500 company and create a newsletter for them. I decided to pick one of my all time favorite companies and places: Disney World or in the company case Disney. I was anxious to create a whole newsletter because I knew how much work would go into it. At the very beginning of the semester we had recreate just the front page of a newsletter which took forever so I was very weary about this whole process. Once I got started on the newsletter however, the ball started rolling and even though it was time consuming I didn’t mind so much doing it. I am a perfectionist though so it did take me awhile to line everything up and find the fonts I wanted and to make sure everything fit okay. I’m pretty proud of my newsletter just because of the hard work I did put into it and tried to keep true to the Disney style. I wanted to keep it simple to make it easier on the readers, I just hope I didn’t make it too simple.

I focused this newsletter mainly on the Disney parks and what is happening there. Disney is a large company that is involved in many different things: Theme parks, movies, merchandise, songs, television..I could go on for hours. So I wanted the newsletter to be about one aspect of the Disney Company. I chose the theme park mainly because I was just their for spring break and I really love it. But also because it has many different stories all the time. Its hard to keep up with everything that happens so that why I picked park people as my target audience.

I know I put this in every reflection post but I’m still getting more and more comfortable with these design programs. I am really glad to have had the chance to take this class and become more familiar with Adobe because I know in the future a lot of companies will see that as an asset that I have.

Here if my final draft! I know its not perfect by any means but as my first newsletter design project I think it is pretty good!
