Reflection – Newsletter Layout
For this week, we are beginning on our Newsletter for a Fortune 500 company of our choice. I decided to use Nike as my company because they are the world leader in athletics apparel and I personally am a big fan of the company. They also have great images on their site as well as a lot of news stories and press releases that will be good for a newsletter.
The first step after choosing a company was to design a “dummy layout” basically design the layout of the newsletter without any real content. At first, I was a little hesitant because I just kind of went for it and didn’t know how it was going to turn out. I like the layout so far, but a lot of it is just playing around with the columns and headlines, etc. Once I choose my actual article and pictures, I think I’ll be changing it a bit but I feel like it is going to really help when I start working on my final product to have something that can serve as a beginning point or outline. It will definitely make the final stages less intimidating.
After completing the layout draft, I am very excited to get started on the final product and inserting my photos and articles. I also think I want to do a fourth page as the back to page 3, but it will be a page just with the mailing address i think and maybe some contact information… I haven’t really figured that one out yet so we will see.
