Reflection – Newsletter
This past week in my PR pubs class we were asked to create a Newsletter for a Fortune 500 company. I chose to do mine over CVS Caremark. I believe it is a great company and I was very happy to create a newsletter layout for them.
I think that I responded very well to creating the layout for the newsletter. I am not used to creating newsletter layouts, but I am very happy with what I created. I used all of the elements for the newsletter and I think that the layout looks nice.
I think that I reacted well to what I was asked to do. Of course, it was my first time to create the layout for a newsletter, but I think that I added enough variation to each page. I didn’t want every page to be a cookie cutter look. I wanted their to be differences in the headline and photo location as well as mixing in the pull quotes. All in all, I think that I made a great layout for the newsletter.
I think my reaction was the way it is, because I did prepare before creating the document. I sketched out a design that I thought would look good for the newsletter. I already had a plan, so when it came down to creating the content I was ready to get to work. This preparation made the entire process a lot easier.
As I mentioned earlier, I believe the benefits of having a mockup layout are very high. For example, going into the process of finding photos and articles I know what I need. I know how much room I have for articles and that is very important. Also, planning before I do something makes me feel more prepared to do the job. I have enjoyed the first part of this assignment and I am excited to complete the rest of the project.
