Reflection of Business Card and Letterhead

For PR Publications the past couple of weeks we were asked to design a draft of a business card and coinciding letterhead while also providing and receiving feedback from our peers. Then we took the feedback and revised our drafts to create a final product. I was hesitant at first to use InDesign and PhotoShop because I had not spent an adequate amount of time using the software before this. I developed my plan but wasn’t exactly sure how that was all going to come into play.

Once I started working on my designs I got more familiar with the programs and felt really good about what I was doing. I think it really helped that I chose an organization that I am familiar with and passionate about. I really enjoy design and being able to choose which organization we designed for made it that much more enjoyable.

I don’t have many longterm goals for this but maybe someday, we’ll see. I think since the organization is so large it would be hard for me to submit or pitch this. I definitely feel more confident in using the tools we have been using. I am becoming more familiar with them as we move forward. I don’t think I would have done a whole lot differently because I was able to learn along the way. For future students, I would say that the preparation and research part is really important and ends up helping a lot in the end. The design part might be more enjoyable but the research of the organization ultimately drives the design.
