Reflection on Business Card and Letterhead

For this week we were asked to revise our letterhead and business card based off of the feedback we received from our classmates. For this assignment I started by revising my business card. Some of my comments mentioned that in some places my alinement was off, so I went back and looked at the business card in preview mode. By doing this I found that by moving the bottom elements to where they are equal distance from both sides helped my card flow better. I also took off the boarder around the logo. With a black boarder on the logo it made the logo look like it was a separate imagReflection on Business Card and Letterheade and not a part of the card. For my letterhead I didn’t have much to change. The alignment was good and the only thing I changed was the font to match the font on my business card. I felt like this tied the elements of my business card and letterhead together.

Reflection on Business Card and LetterheadMy reaction to this assignment was definitely better than it has been. I really like that we were given constructive feedback! It helped my revision process and helped me see different ways people reacted to the card and letterhead. As this assignment went on I feel like I am getting more comfortable using indesign and photoshop. Even when I make a mistake (which is quite frequently) I am either able to backtrack or fix it. I think this shows a lot of improvement and understanding about the programs.

I am going to sent the print copies of my business card and letterhead to the company! They have asked me if I can incorporate the dentists new partner into the logo so I am working on that as well. I really liked the research process and it really helped with the design process, especially the mood board, which allowed me to define the mood and attitude I wanted my material to convey.

Looking back, if I were to start over one thing I might do differently is play around with different business card shapes. I would also play around with different ways to incorporate the logo into both the letterhead and the business card. I would recommend to any student who takes this course in the future or simply just likes to use indesign, to not be narrow minded or glued-to one idea. It’s okay to start over and to click undo! There is opportunity in everything you do and every time you start over incorporate what you learned.
