Reflection on Project 2

For PR Pubs Project #2, we were asked to design two direct mailers for two different stakeholders. When I first read the directions for this assignment, I was a bit nervous because I was not familiar with designing a direct mailer, and I  was also very overwhelmed with the segmenting stakeholders matrix. However, after choosing my stakeholders and jumping into the project, it turned out to be a lot better that I had expected. My first stakeholder was In-State High School seniors who are 17-18 years of age, with high ACT/SAT test scores, and with a household income of $60,000. My second stakeholder was recent OU Gaylord graduates, with a GPA above 3.50. I am very pleased with my stakeholder choices and how my final direct mailers turned out. Although it was hard deciding which stakeholders to choose and where to begin designing my direct mailers, I think that my direct mailers turned out very nicely and that OU should consider using them in the future. I love my designs and the way that I incorporated images from OU’s campus into my direct mailers.

I certainly believe that Photoshop is a more difficult program to use than InDesign. However, I do believe that I am getting more confident in using this design program. I realized throughout the project that I did not need to go back and research how to find different tools and swatches. I am becoming more familiar with the program which is an awesome feeling. I think that InDesign is an easier program to use, however Photoshop is becoming easier as time goes on.

This project enabled me to learn more about Photoshop and to get familiar with designing direct mailers. I learned so much these past two weeks, and I am excited to see what is in store for our new project!
