Reflection – Social Media
This week’s project was based around designing for several platforms of social media. Per usual we were allowed to choose the brand we would be designing for. I chose to create pieces of social media for a good friend’s blog called Take a Bite. Take a Bite is a food blog ran out of Oklahoma City that includes restaurant reviews, recipes and trends in the foodie culture.
For this project we used the website Canva. This program is an easy way to design for social media. One thing I loved about working in Canva was the inspiration factor. There are many design templates to choose from that sparked creativity within my own project.I liked the ease of the website and found that structuring and moving things around was very simple to figure out. Something that was frustrating was the fact that 3/4 of the content is not free – granted it is only a dollar but still. Also, I found some of the design features limiting and I could see how something you created in Canva could turn out somewhat ordinary and similar to designs we see over and over.
For this project I created a Facebook cover page, a Facebook post, a Twitter cover page and an Instagram post. I tried to incorporate the types of photos that Take a Bite usually uses and create something that would draw people in and want to learn more. These designs can be seen below:
