Reflection
I was charged to create a newsletter for a Fortune 500 company. After choosing Starbucks I created a dummy layout so that I would be able to focus on my design rather than my content. After completing my design I went looking for content. When deciding on my content it was important to focus on whether or not this newsletter would be for Starbucks loyal customer base or if it would be for their employees. I decided it would be for the external public. There are many people who consider Starbucks part of their everyday life, therefore, they would probably read a newsletter they put it out. It would communicate with them things that the company was doing or things that could benefit them. I tried to do a modern simplistic design to communicate my message.
I responded well to what we were asked to do. However, I became frustrated as I plugged in my content. I was having to rework everything and I liked it so much better the first time. Overall I am pretty please with what I created but it is so much more content driven than design driven. Which is only a bummer because I was really proud of my original design. I think knowing who my target public was only affected my content and not truly my design. Regardless of the public I would want the design to have the same tone as the company, but the content is driven towards what an external public would want to hear.
