Research: Competitor Analysis
Since I picked the Carnival cruise line as my organization for the assignment this week, I not only did research on the organization, but its competitors as well. This research proved to be beneficial when comparing the differences of Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian.
We were asked to answer the following questions after completing our Pinterest board:
How does your organization differ from its competitors?
Carnival differs from its competitors in a couple of noticeable ways: First, Carnival provides a high-quality vacation, but at a cheaper price than its competitors. Carnival is known for its low-fare prices, Norwegian prices come next and Royal Caribbean is the most expensive of the three.
Second, all three cruise lines have a different “focus” to them: Royal Caribbean focuses on the “wow” factor with a wide variety of shows, Norwegian focuses on their “freestyle” cruises, which means you don’t have a set dining period, and Carnival focuses on a nothing-but-fun casual vibe.
How should your organization’s image and message differ from its competitors?
Carnival should differentiate their message from Royal Caribbean and Norwegian by promoting their laid-back, fun atmosphere and low-fare prices. I believe that since people can have a fun vacation at an affordable price, that choosing Carnival as their cruise line would be an easy decision.
