Research for Business Card & Letterhead
In my Public Relations Publications course, we’re going to be designing a business card and letterhead. Per the assignment, we were to choose any organization. I chose Make-A-Wish because I am currently interning with them this semester. For this particular assignment, I’m analyzing the current state of the organization’s resources and overall core values.
The Make-A-Wish mission is to “grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
This organization is a nonprofit, so I have identified its competitors as other nonprofits. Though they aren’t “competing” in the typical sense, nonprofits do compete for the money necessary to operate and fulfill their missions. To narrow it down, I chose a few nonprofits that are close to the same sphere as Make-A-Wish (for example, I didn’t choose any organizations that deal with animals). Here are the few that I identified: Kids Wish Network, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Caner Society.
Make-A-Wish’s most dominant attitudes are those of hope. They approve all children who fulfill the necessary requirements to get a wish. The organization tries their absolute hardest to fulfill the true wishes of each child (pending approval from doctors and monetary considerations – one child’s wish to receive something worth $1 million would hinder other children from receiving their true wish also). Make-A-Wish prides themselves in spending only the necessary amount to operate from donations and the rest goes straight to wishes and the wish kids.
