Social Media Analysis
I am not surprised that PR writing has a lesson over social media. The last two semesters of school has shown me that social media isn’t just about posting pictures and your daily activities. I have realized how important social media actually is and the impact it can have individuals and organizations. With social media becoming a growing trend, I see why a majority of people and organizations are promoting themselves through this channel. The reality seems to be that millions of people spend more time on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram then they do on any other website. This means to me, that the organizations that takes their ideas to a social networking site may be reaching a way bigger audience compared to the number of clicks their actual website gets.
With all of that said, I chose to looks at Toms shoes social media. I considered Tom shoes to be a trendy fad back in the day so I already figured the organizations knew what target audience to reach and how to reach them (social media)
For starters, Toms will make post around 2-4 times a day. Their content is a combinations of things from informative, entertainment, and self-focused. I find this interesting and enjoying for the reader. I know I don’t like to read boring things and I for sure don’t like a newsfeed that looks too repetitive. By covering a variety of themes I believe TOMS keep their followers by switching up their content. After all, it only takes about a second for someone to click the “unfollow button.”
The topics they cover are their sales, new trends, new designs, art, and inspirational quotes. I personally love the fact they post quotes from Dr. Seuss and Albert Einstein, it helps TOMS show their personality.
One thing I would change is they don’t show the content of their followers. I feel like they do this because it keeps their social media accounts looking clean. I do think they could benefit if they were to share maybe some positive pictures or post people make about TOMS.
Overall, I think they have an awesome social media presence. After looking through their twitter page, I had to go follow them because the positivity in their content covers topics I would want to read during my daily social media time.
