social media + Canva
For my PR Publications class, we were asked to design four different social media pieces on Canva (aka the BEST site ever!)

I had never heard of Canva before. At first, I was a tad overwhelmed but once I completed the tutorials it all began to click. It took me awhile honestly to make my four social media pieces. I kept finding different design templates or backgrounds and shapes I wanted to incorporate.
I ended up designing for my sorority, Alpha Phi. The event I chose to design around was “Mom’s Day 2015″. It was a lot of fun to play around with Canva and design something I am truly proud of and would possibly show the leadership team of my organization. I think my experience on Canva was so “positive” because it was much simpler to figure out than compared to Photoshop and InDesign.
The layout of the website and the modern touches it offers makes it appealing to younger generations. We want sites we can access anywhere. I had the ability to pull Canva up on my home computer with no cost! Another plus is how easy it is to make social media pieces which is a HUGE part of public realtions. The only limitations it has is I think its “younger” vibe. If I needed to create a formal newsletter I probably wouldn’t go to Canva.
My design process is typically to keep it simple and modern. In this case, I turned to my more “crafty” side when designing. My audience in this case is looking for cute, trendy in-style designs so the design process behind it all is supposed to achieve that.
