Social Media Reflection Post

This week in class we were asked to design a social media campaign for a company or organization of our choice. I decided to go in head first with the company had in mind, Graze (it’s an online company that sends you healthy snacks every week). I just wanted to see what happened honestly, I knew I wouldn’t turn out well. This of course was a stupid idea and I ended up with a jumbled and messy looking ad. I went back through and did the tutorials and read “7 Social Media Design Ideas for PR Pros” and found both to be extremely helpful. I dove back in and I was continuing with my Graze idea, and I liked the Nike example of featuring products without ever actually advertising for them in the article. I actually designed the Facebook cover photo (with Graze instead of REI) and was halfway through the Facebook post when it hit me that “live the adventure” and the pictures I was featuring would be perfect for REI (also I love REI they never fail to make me want to be outdoorsy). If you notice there is outdoor equipment featured in each ad (bike, backpack, kayak, tent), but they are not advertised. I am actually really happy with the way they turned out. I do think “live the adventure” is a little cliche, but I thought it worked well with the message I was trying to get across. I don’t think I’ll have any luck with the extra credit and trying to get REI to use my idea unfortunately, they are a pretty big company, but them being non-profit may work in my favor. We’ll see!
