Summary of Learning
For my summary of what I learned in PR Publications, I chose to use a Canva design because I really enjoyed working in the Canva program for our social media lesson. Also, throughout the next semester I will have several opportunities to utilize the program in class as well as my internship.
I chose a clean, simplistic design that really represents the design style that I have developed during this course. Sometimes I feel classy, so I’m seeing Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s saying “It’s design, darling.”
Design is exactly what I have learned in this class. It is something I didn’t have a ton of experience with before hand. Now that I have done some designing with various programs, I feel like I can be a better PR practitioner. By understanding my stakeholders, I can now reach them better with design elements targeted to fit their varying personalities.
This collage showcases the lessons I have learned in this course.
1. Perfection is a thing of the past–First, we were told that we shouldn’t be perfectionists in this class, and of course, I had to learn that the hard way (by staying up all night trying to figure out one little thing).
2. Patience is a necessity–I learned that I must have patience when learning a new program and trying to complete a design.
3. Possibilities are limitless–Once I got past the first two lessons, it was enlightening to know that I could create anything. I wanted to have multiple designs for the same things, because I could! Once I got the programs down, I felt like I had a whole new grasp on design and how to convey messages.
The images I included are things that got me through the course, even when time was NOT on my side. I love the Pablo Picasso quote about inspirations. It inspired me to keep working even when I was at a loss for ideas. The second image is the first design I did that I was really proud of. I learned a lot of cool tricks with that assignment and that motivated me to keep working hard throughout the course. Finally, it took a lot of late nights and a lot of coffee, but the course was so worth it!
Happy designing, pals!
