Summary of Learning: Final

Hello again!

I did it. I survived my first design/publication class. And it wasn’t terrible!  In fact, I actually enjoyed it!  I was able to create a lot of cool stuff and learn about really neat design concepts that I had never thought of before.  I think that this class was worth it, and I think that this class is something that many students (beyond those required to do so) should take this class because it teaches you so many tools and concepts!

Which brings me to my Summary of Learning design!

I created a direct mailer to target students who are thinking about taking PR Pubs or could be convinced to take the class.  I structured it as a cheat sheet – telling them what they would learn and what it would take to learn it.  The call to action is very clear – Take PR Pubs!

I thought that a basic overview of the course in a neat, 2-page mailer would be an effective way of introducing the course to potential students.  It is very minimalistic and clean, no clutter or distractions.  It gets straight to the point; the call to action is the largest text on the mailer.

I really tried to boil down the essence of what we learned and did in the class to one small mailer – difficult! However, I think I captured the gist of the class and presented it in an attractive manner!

I created a pitch video for this project, which you can view here:

In summary of the course, I loved it.  Learning design skills and getting to practice them has been great!  I actually have taken the skills I have learned so far and used them on some pro-bono projects for people and organizations that I know.  This has been a great experience and I hope to continue to sharpen my design/publications skills and put them to good use in the future!

Until next time!
