The Direct Mailer Impaler

The Direct Mailer Impaler The Direct Mailer Impaler The Direct Mailer Impaler

This week I was asked to continue working on my direct mailers. I was already pretty happy with my drafts so I didn’t have a ton of work ahead of me. I did end up having some trouble with the marquee and fonts on my first direct mailer, so I decided to take a different approach. Since I was much happier with my second one than my first, I decided to have a more uniform design on the front of both. I like my little slogans and am happy with the mailers overall. I am becoming more and more able to navigate through Photoshop, which excites me. I still prefer InDesign, but feeling comfortable with both is a big step. I think the layering is one of the major differences between Photoshop and InDesign. In Photoshop, the layers are incredibly important, whereas in InDesign, I feel like you stack things rather than layer them. I know they sound similar, but Photoshop just seems more rigid in the layers.

If I would have known I was going to run into the marquee trouble at the end, I would have gone out with my DSLR and taken a picture of a marquee that I felt would be easy for me to cut out and put text on. I just couldn’t find any marquee images that were easily editable and of high resolution.
