The Final Products!
After completing my business card and letterhead I was kind of thinking of places I could put it. I don’t think I will end up pitching the letterhead to the organization, since any letters sent out by Student Life use OU letterhead. However, I might show the business card to my previous student advisor and the new Winter Welcome Week Chair. At times last semester, when talking to businesses or meeting with sponsors, it definitely would have been helpful to have a business card to hand those groups.
The other day I was actually thinking about how far I’ve come with InDesign! I definitely still have a lot to learn, but I feel pretty confident with my newly acquired InDesign skills. I know I can continue to make business cards, letter heads and resumes with InDesign and I look forward to using this program in the future!
If I started over I would probably choose a more creative organization instead of a very professional one because that would have given me more of an opportunity to practice adding photos and backgrounds to my work. However, I also think it is good I used an organization that prides themselves in their professionalism because that is probably what I will be working with if I continue with my original plan of working in crisis communications and government relations – honestly, just not very fluffy activities.
My main recommendation to future students would be to just keep working. Don’t put the work off, even if you can’t think of anything. It is better to just get work on the page and then continue to build off a design gradually than putting the entire design off because you are blocked and having to throw something together at the end.
