The Last Reflection Blog
No. Not the final reflection blog post… the Last Reflection Blog. Why? Well because it’s only fitting with the theme of my Summary of Learning Project of course.
For my Summary of Learning Project, I created a movie trailer. In my Summary of Learning blog I decided I was going to create a movie trailer on iMovie but I wasn’t certain of the direction it would go. However, after much time and consideration on the matter.. I felt it was only best to mirror the movie it fits best so I modeled my movie trailer after The Last Song and named it The Last Publication.
If you aren’t familiar with the movie The Last Song, I urge you to watch this movie trailer because after seeing it, the entire project will make so much more sense! Click here to watch the trailer.
After seeing that trailer you might think… why in the world did she choose to summarize her learning with a romantic drama that involves Miley Cyrus?!? And allow me to explain:
PR Publications is a terrible, beautiful, tragic, wonderful love story that is mostly a journey, not a destination. In the beginning, PR Pubs and I knew nothing about each other. We were simply strangers passing by. But then, a turn of events happened the moment I enrolled into PR Pubs. Just like the movie, the turn of events happened for Ronnie (Miley Cyrus) when she moved away to live at her dad’s house for the summer. It was inevitable that she would meet and fall in love with Will (Liam Hemsworth) just as I fell in love with the art of designing publications. Of course, just like any good romantic movie, there was turmoil. There were times when Ronnie claimed she hated Will and wanting nothing to do with him, just as I was frustrated with Photoshop and wanted to throw in the towel when the design I was seeing wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. Throughout PR Pubs, I was able to learn the difference between serif and sans serif (and why they should be different in titles and on body text), how to use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, how to better my Canva skills, how contrast and alignment matter in the message you’re trying to get across and so much more. Just like Ronnie in The Last Song who learned about trust, love and most importantly, herself. My relationship with PR Publications had its fair share of road blocks when I didn’t get along with Photoshop, but it also had such great memories and moments when I created designs that were actually used in real life (the social media ones! woo!). At the end of the day, there’s no better way to summarize this semester in PR Pubs than the movie trailer I created. So here it is, the last blog post, the last assignment… and The Last Publication (click here to see the movie trailer).
The PR Pubs journey I had, I wouldn’t trade for the world! I truly looked forward to spending time designing each week, and even though this was an online class, I never once felt completely lost or on my own! I feel like I was able to really grow in my designs as well as understand my style. Thank you Adam Croom for a great semester, and all of the knowledge you provided me with that I will be able to use for the rest of my career and pretty much the rest of my life!
