Thorns Letterhead Reflection
This week we continued with building publications for our business of choice- I chose Thorn Originals, a quaint floral and gift shop in my home town. I did a business card last week and this week I was tasked with creating a letterhead that mimicked the style of the business card previously created.
I first decided to work some more on my business card before starting my letterhead. If you saw my draft last week, it was pretty plain and lacking in color. I was excited to add some color and pretty design into these two pieces and it took me quite a while to find the right floral pattern that fit Thorns image. I was surprised at how long it took me to get to the point of being content with these two pieces. I found it much easier to do the letterhead once the business card was exactly how I wanted it, so I am glad I spent some more time on that. I enjoyed seeing my vision for these two pieces become real through my own work, and I’m pretty pleased with it at this point.
I still get really frustrated when working with InDesign, I can’t even begin to tell you the number of times today that I accidentally deleted my text application bar and couldn’t get it back. I also spent some time in Photoshop cutting out the floral pattern and creating the gold overlay for the name of the business card. Working with these programs really makes me wish I had a photographic memory.
When I started this whole process I had a design in my head and then as I started trying to create it I had to back track a bit to make something that was on my level of skills at the moment. I didnt enjoy the process of creation so much but did enjoy seeing the final product. You can view my letter head here
