Typography

Round 1: The game I chose to play was called ‘shoot the serif,’ which was totally entertaining and funny. My first try, I hate to admit, was awful! But the more and more times I tried, the better I got. It started to get easier and easier to identify which letters were in the Serif font. I find this exercise to be quite helpful when learning about design.

Round 2: The second game I chose to play was called ‘type connection.’ At first I was confused as to what the game was about, but after playing with it for a few minutes, I started to catch on. I found this game very effective because it helps me understand which fonts go best with other fonts. With design, I feel like the whole project can fail if the fonts are not correctly placed. It took me a few tries to finally find a perfect match.

Round 3: The third and final game I decided to play was ‘type war.’ The point of this game was to distinguish three different fonts. I found this game to be pretty fun. At first it was very easy to identify which letters were in the Times New Roman font, but the other two fonts were a little difficult to differentiate. However, after a long period of time it was very easy to pick out which font was Times New Roman, Optima, or Helvetica Neue.
