Shoot the Serif

When first deciding which typography game to play, shoot the serif seemed like a silly game. How hard could it be to find the serif fonts versus sans serif fonts? I attempted it anyways, thinking it would be easy enough. But after passing quickly through several levels, it got much more difficult. Add in the fact that I am a competitive person who gets anxiety when playing timed games, and shoot the serif ended up being a lot more of an entertaining game than I thought.

Type Connection

This game sounded interesting from the start. You choose a font and choose a story, and then have to try to pair up that font with another to make the best match. The thought of giving a font a whole life story is funny to think about, but is a good way to get to know the fonts. It helps you consider what types of fonts would go best together or with certain publications and how fonts appeal to certain types of audiences.

Poster Letters

In this game, the task is to try to guess the movie based off of only one letter from a movie’s poster. I consider myself to know a lot of movies, and thought this would be a good game for me. But it is actually a lot harder than it sounds, and I only got about five of my answers correct. I guess I heavily overestimated my knowledge of typography of movie posters.
