Typography
I have always thought typography was important to design. I even went so far as to download several different fonts onto my parents computer when I was in middle school because I liked the idea of making a boring paper or assignment unique and nice to look at.
We were asked to play a series of typography games (my kind of assignment). The games turned out to be enjoyable and educational. The first game I played was Shoot the Serif. What helped me the most when distinguishing whether the letter was serif or sans serif was the “feet” or “tails” on the serif font.
Next I played poster letters. This was a game that challenged my film knowledge. By the way I performed on this challenge, you’d think I was a child. I got all the pixar and disney movies such as Cars and 101 Dalmatians. The poster game was difficult for me and made me rethink all my movie choices in the last 21 years.
Lastly, I played Type War. This was my favorite. Actually, I spent nearly our whole class period playing because I wanted to get to level 10. Now I could spot Garamond or Helvetica Neue anywhere.
In my opinion, the typography games will enhance my designs in the future!
