In lesson 1.2 of PR Publications we were asking to play three different games. The games I chose to play were Shoot the Sherif, Type Connection and Kern Type!

As I began the game Shoot the Sherif, I quickly realized I had no idea what the difference between Serif and Sans-Serif fonts was. I googled what each was and looked at them for a little while before I started playing the game. During the game, it was pretty easy at first because it only showed you a few letters at a time. As the game progressed it got a lot harder, there was one point where there were 30 letters on the screen and I got really into it! This game was a fun and competitive way to learn the difference between the two fonts.

The second game I played was called Type Connection. I chose my favorite font out of the 4 which was ITC Century, I felt like this one was the most girly of them all and fit my description the best. I then chose my strategy which was to Embrace the Other. The two different fonts ended up fitting together pretty well at the end. I ended up with ITC Century and Linotype Centennial. I thought this was a really fun way to learn about different fonts and it was interesting to play around with too! I would definitely send them on a “date”!

The last game I chose to play was Kern Type. This game was interesting to me because you had to move the text around to make it evenly spaced and readable. I was surprisingly good at this game and scored a 90/100! I found this game fun and enjoyed playing around with the letters in each word. As the game went on the words became longer and it was harder to space them out evenly.

I thought these games were a fun way to learn about the different fonts and it made me really think about how different every font is! I really enjoyed this activity!!
