Word Games

I’d just like to start out by saying that I successfully guessed 15 letters in Poster Letters. So I’d say I have the lead at this point.

But man, was I bad at pairing fonts in Type Connection! I tried to match Archer, and obviously they gave me three different options that he might go well with. And I had to try all three of them to find the right one! Never ask me to pair fonts, obviously.

I also played a little Shoot the Serif. It wasn’t too hard, but under pressure it was sometimes difficult to find the tiny little feet on the sides of fonts. And it was hard to say whether a “Q” was serif or not. But I got the hang of it–I don’t think identifying the difference is very tough, as long as I’m not being timed.

Playing these games was actually kind of fun–I’m not sure it made me any better at using typeface, but I’ve got to give these web designers credit for coming up with some cool ways to learn.
